Senior Year
Why Sacred Heart?
When my senior year of high school came around, I couldn't believe how fast it went and that I was going to start an entirely new chapter in my life. The college application process was definitely a stressful one and being as indecisive as I am, I applied to as many schools as humanly possible. Sacred Heart was one of the last schools I applied to and one of my last choices.
I had a top choice in my mind and that's where I wanted to go, with my best friend. We long awaited the acceptance email or letter, just to find out that I got in and she unfortunately didn't. Not only did this make everything awkward, it was a moment in my life I'm very thankful for. I would've never considered Sacred Heart if this didn't happen. As hesitant as I was, my mom (like moms do), forced me to go on a tour of campus because they wouldn't officially accept me unless I did. My attitude coming onto campus wasn't a good one, I didn't want to be there and it showed until I stepped foot onto campus. It was a beautiful day and the campus looked incredible, I fell in love on the spot. After the tour was over, I went back to the admissions office and they surprised me with my official acceptance! It was a surreal experience and made me realize that Sacred Heart is really where I should be for the next four years of my life. My mom will tell me "I told you so" to this day and I'm so grateful she dragged me out that day.
From my amazing tour guide, to the beautiful campus, and watching students walk around with smiles on their faces; I knew Sacred Heart was the one. This taught me a great lesson, everything happens for a reason. Life throws obstacles our way each day, but they're always for a reason. This experience showed me how to be more open-minded, adventurous, and ready to take on anything that life hands to me. This university has given me everything I could've imagined and more, home really is where the heart is.
